To be honest I've always been a big fan of ''open top'' mag pouches, I just find it easier to work with them.. but as my hobby is reviewing gear I got the chance to try the Zulu Double Mag pouch. There's a lot of stuff out there, I remember some years ago you only had 2 or 3 gear manufacturers to chose from.. Today you have hundreds, some of them just copy other peoples stuff, some have been making the same, good old, s#%t for centuries, others come up with not so great ideas and just a few propose some real innovative stuff..
Yes, thats what I'm talking about Innovation and thats what people at Zulu Nylon Gear do, transform their fantasy into reality with some great gear!
So I decided to give their double mag pouch a try.

On standar mag pouches, usually to open it you pull the flap from bottom to top and if you don't hold it or attach it to velcro what will happen is that the flap bomes back down being just a pain in the back, I know I might sound fussy, there's a lot of operators out there using this system and not complaining abt it.. But, hey, I find Zulu Gear's system to be more functional.
What happens here is that to open your mag pouch all you have to do is pull the flap down (reverse flap) and thats where it will stay unless you don't pull it back up again; I find this system perfect has during reloading you don't have anything waving around creating an obstacle during operations. Plus, the flap can be secured to the front part of the pouch with velcro, just to be 100% sure it will stay there. So basically what you see is the safety of a flapped pouch with the functionality of an open top pouch, in other words the best of two worlds in one item.

The pouch fits any kind of mag, I'm using TangoDown ones and have encountered to difficulties at all.
Also tried out the pouch as an holster, hey it works great too, the gun has a perfect fit and even with the flap open noi strange movements have accured.. I was very impressed.

Other key feature, in my opinion, which is to be taken into consideration is the following; I find this pouch easy to use and perfect even in a prone position as, thanks to the reverse flap, you don't need to lift your body up and expose yourself to unfriendly fire in a hostile environment.. with standard flap pouches you would need to lift your body up to a certain degree! I'm obsessed?! NO, I just think , the more cover I can take the better for my safety!

My overall feeling is the Zulu Mag pouches rock, they work well and why not look good too ;) They make your life easier allowing a fast extraction of the mags and even putting them back in has prooved nice and easy.
They are Made in USA with only the best Milspec materials with top notch sewing !
Other features are:
- Bottom grommets for drainage
- Not intended for use with Ranger plates
And take note: They require 2 Long MALICE clips which do not come with the pouch, so make sure to have some spare ones or buy them separately.
High thumbs for this product.
